Resources
IfYoureReadingThis.org is one of many great resources available to SMU students. Below we’ve provided a brief description of a few of these resources, as well as how to access them. While this list is not exhaustive, we hope it is helpful.
CARING COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS FORM
The Caring Community Connections Program provides support to students who are experiencing challenges by identifying and linking them to appropriate resources. If you are concerned about a student showing signs of distress, please submit a form with details of the concern. Student Advocacy & Support staff meet with students when concerns are submitted to provide a supportive environment, discuss the submitted concern, strategize ways to address the issues, and develop an action plan/appropriate next steps.
SMU STUDENT COUNSELING SERVICES
SMU Student Counseling Services offer SMU students a broad range of outpatient services, which are confidential and sensitive to issues of race, ethnicity, age, gender, sexual orientation, religious preference, and disabilities. All counseling sessions are free and covered under the Health Services Fee.

STUDENT SENATE HEALTH COMMITTEE
The Student Senate Health committee is responsible for dispersing information about health-related resources and making them more accessible for the SMU community. They are also a student voice in any and all health concerns including mental health. If students or other community members have ideas for what could be better, the health committee is there to listen to these requests and relay them into policy.

REDEFINING MENTAL ILLNESS (ReMI)
Redefining Mental Illness, or ReMI, seeks to serve as a place of emotional creativity for those impacted by mental illness through events like poetry slams, Survivor Speak-Out Open Mics, and partnerships with local NGOs or similar community partnerships. Additionally, ReMI is committed to education through on-campus programming aiming to educate peers, professors and other staff on subjects related to mental illness. In the long run, ReMI strives to destigmatize mental illness.
