If you’re reading this, know that at the Newhouse School, your success is always my top priority.
Newhouse is a special place where I hope all students, faculty, and staff can find community and support. Building your own network can take time, and it's natural for it to falter occasionally. What's important is recognizing when we need help, and not being afraid to seek it out. Help can come from many directions, maybe it’s a friend, a professor, a health expert, or simply someone you feel comfortable approaching.
Fostering mental health is a crucial aspect of the college journey, and mental health care has been an important part of my own life since my childhood in California. It's something I've always encouraged when appropriate.
I am confident that your journey at Newhouse will be a successful one. But know even the most successful journeys include moments of insecurity, doubt, and sadness. The strength of the Newhouse community and Syracuse University will always be here to help you endure, emerge, and thrive.
