If you're reading this, I hope this sketch speaks to you.

This sketch is a drawing of a woman holding a pigeon, with doves flying around her.

Pigeons and doves are, interestingly enough, the same species, but they’re treated very differently. That contrast felt like an apt metaphor for how we, too, can be seen or unseen, cherished or ignored, depending on where we find ourselves.

As someone who often feels like a bit of an outsider, I can relate to the pigeon more than the dove sometimes. Still, there’s beauty in both, and I wanted this sketch to reflect that.

If you take anything from this, I hope it’s that you matter, even if you feel like a pigeon in a world that celebrates doves.
