Community Kindness Series: Part 2

Photo from BU Arrows

This semester, we held an outreach event where students, faculty, and staff wrote messages of kindness. This is the second collection of our 3-part series:

If you’re reading this, I hope you have a great day! The sun is shining and you are loved! The challenges of life are always there, but so are the people in your life who care about you. Have fun today and smile at a stranger!

If you’re reading this, remember that it will all work out in the end, and that you are loved and supported. The dark times are temporary and good things will come soon.

If you’re reading this, everyone is on their own path. Never forget that. We each have our own individual stories, and we cannot compare our paths with the paths of others! Do what’s best for you, not what’s best for someone else.

If you’re reading this, you got this! Never underestimate your own capabilities.

If you’re reading this, where there’s rain and gloominess, always remember that there is sunshine at the end. You are capable, strong and resilient. I am PROUD of you!

If you’re reading this, God loves you, and you matter. You are smarter and more capable than you think!

If you’re reading this, you can do hard things! Every second is endurable.

If you’re reading this, please know that you are unique and special, and every characteristic of you makes you a fantastic person!.

If you’re reading this, I am proud of all your brilliance!

If you’re reading this, you’re doing great and you’re doing enough! Keep it up.

If you’re reading this, don’t give up! Medical school is an extremely challenging adventure, but don’t be deterred by your shortcomings, however real or perceived. Nearly everyone in medical school experiences imposter syndrome and worries about whether they can succeed at some point, but you deserve to be here as much as anyone else and you are capable of achieving your goals. Take every setback as an opportunity to improve and never give up the drive that got you here! Remember, you are not alone. If you ever doubt yourself, reach out to those who care about you, go to that social event and meet new people, shadow a doctor in a specialty you are interested in, volunteer for a cause you believe in, find a new hobby, or binge that Netflix show you’ve been putting off. You cannot study to serve others without taking care of yourself and your well-being first. Take a deep breath, remember what got you here and why you want to be a doctor, and know that you are deserving, capable, and going to achieve great things. <3
