If you’re reading this, you’re not alone…

When I think of mental health in regards to my friends, it can sometimes be a difficult subject to bring up–especially in college, where everyone is busy living what’s supposed to be the best time of our lives. It can be really hard for people to acknowledge and accept that it’s okay to struggle, especially when you're on your own for the first time, learning who you are and how to be independent. College is an overwhelming whirlwind of new experiences, people, and lessons all meant to challenge us–but not at the expense of our mental health or sense of self. It’s okay to ask for help, take a night off, or step back from certain situations if that feels right for you.

For many, struggling in college can feel lonely, but it's important to know that you’re far from alone and help is always just a call away. I don’t think there is someone who hasn’t questioned themselves, their feelings, or their path during college–which we should all talk about more because in the end we are all going through similar things. There are many people experiencing what you’ve experienced, so don’t be afraid to reach out. I hope letters like these help people feel a sense of community—a reminder that there are those who understand, see their struggles, and appreciate the effort they’re making, even when it’s hard to do so.
